Man swore at me

I was driving along, going what was an appropriate speed round a bad corner. A car was coming up and they had a car on their side. I expected him to stop and wait but they didn’t and I was still going. He then had to stop in the middle of the road just past the car and I had enough room to get through then. He shouted ‘slow down bitch’ but I wasn’t actually going fast at all and he didn’t wait behind the car for me. Who was at fault?

Diagram please!

Depends. If he was committed to his manoeuvre before you came round the bend, then you should have stopped, regardless of a parked car his side.

Im rereading your op and, as he was past the car, and you then squeezed through, it sounds like he was already committed to his manoeuvre so you should have waited.

Sorry I should have said, I don’t think he’d have got past, it’s a bad corner because there’s always loads of cars parked on one side. I’d have had to stop right at the top, and I wouldn’t have seen him from there

Yep, diagram (with arrows, preferably) needed - i don't understand where he was in relation to you. Was he coming the opposite direction, overtaking on a blind bend?

dynamiccactus · 04/07/2025 18:01

Even if you were at fault for not stopping he had no right to speak to you like that, and you clearly weren't going too fast.

Will try to do a diagram later but basically I’m going down hill (round the bad corner). He was going up, cars parked on his side. He came round one of the parked cars as I was still coming downwards. He then had to stop in the middle of the road next to a parked car. There was enough room for me to squeeze past. All hazards (parked cars) were on his side
