We’re in a rented property and had been reporting a bathroom leak for some time now, with a couple of contractors attending and re sealing the bath time and time again.
Finally the carpet is ripped back on the landing and my 5 year olds bedroom and this is underneath. No wonder my kid has been having breathing difficulties at night. Photo of under the bath included, which is where the leak is.
What needs to happen here exactly re the mould. The contractor says he needs to replace the floorboards and skirting, but the plan was to do this in one day, spray down the mould with HG or similar and put in the new bath - in a single day, meaning it wouldn’t dry.
I’m concerned that we are not addressing the existing mould adequately. It seems severe, and in my 5 years old bedroom! My feeling is that this is deep rooted enough to warrant bringing in an actual mould company to assess and sort properly, as a bottle of spray from the shops won’t cut it.
They plan to just start ripping stuff out but the mold spores will go everywhere without adequate equipment.
We have had to move out until it’s fixed as there is just no way we are sleeping there at the moment, but the agency don’t seem overly concerned at all.
