To ask about fun & quirky EVENTS on this weekend?

Hello all!

A big birthday this weekend and would like to do a mini UK road on my own! But absolutely no idea where to go! Does anyone know of exciting or quirky events happening in the next two days? Could be a big fete or county show, a historical celebration, a town regatta or carnival. Or something smaller and quirky, in a beautiful area I can explore?

I know IABU to ask as Google and 'What's On' sites exist ...but they're so broad and all-encompassing, I just don't know where to start. I'm after more local knowledge...recommendations...those summer events I've never even heard of. It doesn't even have to be an event really, just a suggestion for a great day out.

Fairly active so driving/transport/walking/anywhere, in any direction is no problem. Please hit me with your ideas!

Thank you so much!

I haven't added a vote as I know IABU to ask, but would so value some inspiration!

I don't think there's any round me this weekend I'm afraid.... but I hope you have a great day whatever you end up doing! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

In Ironbridge, Shropshire there is Blists Hill open air Victorian museum which I saw this morning is having it's Steampunk festival weekend if that floats your boat. Ironbridge and Shropshire generally are rather beautiful and worthy of a visit on any UK roadtrip!

And you could tie in RAF Cosford, which is just up the road and is rather fabulous.
Or the potteries in Stoke on Trent (what's left of them!).

I think it’s the southsea show this weekend if you fancy a trip to Portsmouth?! Easily accessible by train

I would like to visit River ford organic in Devon and do their guided tour of the gardens with lunch afterwards, it's about £85 but it looks fabulous.

Ideas:
Glastonbury
Walsingham in Norfolk (Christian site)
St Michaels mount in Cornwall
Grasmere village for all things Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, great tea rooms and walking routes.
Liverpool....because it's just the best city in the UK.
Hire a boat on the Helford river.
