To keep neighbour at arms length?

My next door neighbour talks for ages if she see’s me, she seemed OK at first but as time has gone on there are a few things that just want to make me keep her arms length.

Firstly she is extremely nosey and spies on everyone including myself on her Ringdoor.

Very observant and asks a lot of intrusive and personal questions.

”Oh was that your sister that visited last weekend?” And then will proceed to wait for an explanation.

Lately has been slagging of other neighbours, on one occasion the neighbour she was badmouthing even come out of their house after hearing what was said through an open window.

I try and avoid her as much as possible as I want to be engaging in long conversations etc.

From a bad experience I always keep neighbour at arms length but this lady did initially seem OK.
I just don’t want to be involved in any drama etc which she is already involved in.

AIBU to feel like this?

It would be remiss of you not to keep her at arm’s length.

I never, ever, have anything to do with neighbours. I don't have anything in common with them. I just bought a house on the same street.

I’m not sure why you need to ask?

I usually always keep myself to myself but here it seems everyone chats to everyone as it’s all terraced houses on an estate.

The neighbour is a single parent to a baby and she says she gets no help of anyone so I felt abit sorry for her I guess and feel bad for wanting to avoid her.

Wear headphones or be on you phone every time you pass her house.
