To be worried about my elderly dad?

He is 86 and lives about 50 miles away. Lives on his own but is very independent. We always speak between 6 and 7pm and I haven’t heard from him. Asked a neighbour to check on him and she said his car isn’t there.

he doesn’t use his mobile and doesn’t have a data plan on his iPad because he’s not interested in being contacted when he’s out.

Any ideas on what to do at this point? Should I be worried? I am worried.

Does he normally go out at that time?? Is he normally "all there"? mentally? If he's not back by a certain time then I would contact the police and explain how worried you are??

This is ridiculous but he literally just answered the phone straight away after I posted!! He spent 3 and a half hours at a friend’s house instead of the 1 hour he was expecting 😂

Just seen your update that’s great!

I would be the same OP, I’ve added my dad to my family life 360. He can’t track us lol but I like to make sure he is home safe when he goes out.

@BarbaraVineFan thats such a relief x my dad is the same as yours, very independent. I worry too if I can't get hold of him. He's usually in the garden or doing the social round

MIL has an airtag on her keys.... she's 91 and doesn't drive any more and doesn't use a mobile. However she still goes out and about to the local village, attends some clubs and visits friends. We can see where she is if we're worried.
I don't think she really understands what it does (although we have explained it to her) but it has been useful in making sure she's okay. Would your father be open to something like this?

That’s actually a great idea with the AirTag @ApisMellifera! Thanks, I might suggest that.
