Villages around Chichester

Considering moving to this area and would like some feedback. I’ve heard that traffic can be dreadful, no NHS dentists, poor doctors and some rough areas in Chichester itself. Are the villages around any better and where would you recommend? Looking for lovely walks, good community and things to do as well as good transport links if possible.

Chichester is hardly rough, it's a lovely city, but traffic on the ring road (A27) is appalling.

Village wise, I prefer coast to country so would go for Birdham, Bosham, Itchenor etc. Possibly Emsworth but obviously further from Chichester. Can't comment on buses but Emsworth and Bosham have rail stations.

I moved away from the outskirts of Chichester almost 7yrs ago. Family still live there.

I'm lost for words about the traffic whenever I go back to visit. It's like Chichester to Worthing is one big joined up town with no distinction between the villages and towns anymore.

When I visited my son recently, we had to sit in traffic for 50 minutes to go seven miles to the cinema.

Everyone said I'd be moving back with six months after I left. Nope. Never. The massive housing estates, lack of facilities...no thanks. I'll stay where I am!
