Althorpe House, Delapre Abbey

Blatantly using AIBU for traffic because I tried posting on chat and had no luck.

Has anyone visited either of these? The second one in particular, is it worth a visit? I noticed with Althorpe, it's self guided and I'm not exactly full of motivation at the moment! So just wondering what it's like.

I'm thinking of doing one or both of these and staying in a nearby hotel. I would be on my own. If anyone has any hotel recommendations that would be great.

I would be travelling in by train from Essex, so I have to go into London first and then into the relevant area.

Just trying to find a little trip I can do on my own, thanks for any replies or any advice and apologies for using this section.

I live quite close to Delapre Abbey.

We went to an open air performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream (maybe 10 years ago.) They are hosting the same on 25th August, this year. Very tempted to book for that.

You will really struggle to get to Althorp without hiring a car or getting a taxi, and I think a taxi would cost quite a bit from Northampton station
. Delapre on the other hand is within the town so you could use buses or walk in about 40 mins from the train station.

Visited Delapre earlier this year.
For me growing up locally it was interesting to see the changes. Not much to see if you have no local links.
Last visited Althorpe when Diana engaged to Charles. Check website for new information.

Thanks, everyone

might not be worth it really. I'll have a ponder.
