AIBU? Air con unit

My partner thinks I’m being unreasonable for wanting to buy an air con unit in this heat… his comments are ‘for a few hot days a year’ and all that jazz.

but my opinions are the summers are getting hotter, for longer periods of times- I can’t remember the last time we didn’t have a summer that didn’t drop below 26 degrees for over 2 weeks here in the south of England!!!

my daughter was in agony last night as her psoriasis gets bad in the heat, no matter how many cold showers she has, or fans on her which is just blowing hot air around, it’s just constantly flaring up for her :(

I just think drastically cooling her room down with an aircon unit will help her massively sleep and reduce her flares! - going on holiday and having some sunlight, but resting in airconned rooms / hotel lobbies, doesn’t make her skin flare anywhere near this!

if you’ve got one, are they worth it? 😏

Yes i've had one in my bedroom for 20 years now.

I HAVE to have a good nights sleep. If I don't, I feel hungover in the morning and my whole day is not productive.

The sun gets rid of my psoriasis. If I could afford a good air con unit, I'd buy one tomorrow.

Yep I’ve got one and it was so worth it. Bought 5 years ago and still worth it and I heard the same thing but it’s been one of the best money I’ve spent

We had a huge portable one. It was a pain in the bum trying to vent it out the window so we had a permanent vent put through the wall. Loved it so much that we’ve now had ‘proper’ aircon in five rooms. Absolute godsend today.

Hopefully taking delivery of ours later this week after the heat wave . Kids' bedroom is 30°

Yes, worth every penny. I bought our first one from b&q over 20 years ago and it's still working perfectly. We now have one for each bedroom. They really are a worthwhile investment, but make sure the one you buy is big enough for the room you want to use it in. Some are only suitable for a very small space.

We’ve got one and it’s so loud I can’t sleep and have to go in the spare bedroom!
