Not every moment is magical. Sometimes kids are just loud and annoying.

Well yes OP, of course it isn’t a. We know that , and the person saying it is was either a parent of a child decades ago OR doesn’t actually mean it and it was a throwaway comment.

not something to bother about really!

Who said every moment is magical? Maybe they were just seeing joy in life rather than being miserable

I’m not against joy at all - I just think there’s a tendency to gloss over how intense or chaotic kids can be in the name of nostalgia. Not saying childhood has to be miserable or magical - just that it’s okay to acknowledge the full picture.

But being able to be loud and annoying and not having an ego or any kind of malice behind it is quite an important part of human development.

The freedom of childhood is something you can't ever get back. The lack of responsibility and wonder at every new thing.

So I do think there's a lot to be said about thinking childhood is a lot more fun the being a grown up!

They’re glossing over because they’re just throwing out a twee comment with not much thought, no big deal.

And you can’t swing a tampon for SM, and celebs and newspaper articles for how hard parenting can be
