To be worried about work with the temperature tomorrow

I work in the NHS, based in a large open plan office. It’s pretty warm in there generally even when it’s cool outside. I’m really concerned about how hot it is going to be tomorrow and if I have any leg to stand on re working from home?

People are being absolutely ridiculous and hysterical about the weather 🙄 So it's hot, get a grip

Well then your boss may have some expensive employment tribunals heading their way.

It's ignorant and arrogant to assume everyone is affected by heat in the same way.

Heat literally leaves me paralysed. There's nothing princessy about that

Or some literal shit when an employees IBD plays up Weather like this makes those conditions a lot worse.

The excess deaths across Europe are very high in heatwaves. Especially the Spain and Italy.

Countries where it is consistently hot do also adapt thier culture and architecture to the heat. People focus on air-conditioning, but it so much more and aircon isnt the main thing, roof shape, window overhangs, shutters, house colour, materials inside the house, when and how long lunch is, opening hours, when they pick for school holidays. A lot of european countires break up today as it happens.

Italy broke up on the 1st June. My place in Spain is very cool even in heatwaves as the floor and walls are designed to keep the heat out. Plus I have shutters across all the windows which stay closed.

Chuck a bottle of water in the freezer overnight and take it in a cool bag alongside a fridged bottle of water. Absolute luxury when the temp is like an oven.

Some genius recommended freezing a hot water bottle to get through the night. Can’t find the post. Resharing like this.

I think it’s all very well to say this if you’re not stuck in a near 30 degree room with over 30 other human beings and no air- all day!
