I have worn it a ^lot. But I have also hand washed it and left it to drip dry ... and an inner seam is very very ripped. This bra was £24 but I don't have the receipt any more. Can I still take it back to the small bra shop I got it from?

That sounds pretty bad. Tbh if you've only had it 2 weeks you can't hav worn it that much - I'd expect a bra to last much longer than 14 wears!! Take it back imo.

Will I still get a refund with no receipt though? And do I have a leg to stand on legally if they tell me to Eff Orf

No idea on legal position, esp with no receipt. You'd probably get a replacement though, which might work okay as perhaps you got a dodgy one?! Or an exchange and pay the difference for something better quality?

SmugColditz · 24/05/2008 15:10

Apparently I don't need a receipt, I have just googled. This is good. I don't think they will get snotty about it but all the staff are middle aged and you know how middle aged women can be with the under-thirties

If it's a small local shop they might recognise you or be able to check records. Definitely worth a try but for exchange not refund without receipt.

norkmaiden · 24/05/2008 15:13

Not sure about this, but you might get better customer service with a small independent place? At least the service is a bit more personal - they'll probably remember you coming in to buy it in the first place!

Ah x-post with wellies!

Earlybird · 24/05/2008 15:14

How did you pay for it? Would it show up on credit card or bank statement?

Earlybird · 24/05/2008 15:15

Would you recognise the salesperson who helped you?

lou33 · 24/05/2008 15:16

if something is faulty you do not need the receipt

SmugColditz · 24/05/2008 15:20

I have another £24 bra on order there, actually, so I could ask them to exchange and let me have that one for free. I'm sure they might recognise either me or ds2...

Take a printout of a bank statement showing the transaction - that counts as proof of purchase
