What toys does/did your 2-3 year old love & play with?

DD has outgrown her baby toys and I'm looking for some inspiration for her birthday and Christmas. We aren't a big "toy" household and I honestly can't stand plastic crap. I've got her few little things already hidden in the wardrobe for now and she has a micro scooter. (We have enough books to fill a children's library)

She has loved every one of her toys so far and I'm keen to only buy stuff that she will use and play with.

What were big hits in your family? I can't remember my toys from the toddler years!

Melissa and Doug Ice Cream scoop and serve - its really robust and every small child that has come over to visit is obsessed with it. It's a really great toy.

Also a toy cash register. But mostly the ice cream set. Duplo also a big hit.

I was / am the same, and would recommend looking into Waldorf toys. We aren't a Waldorf family but their toys made total sense to me.

My kids are now a bit older and have moved past most of their Waldorfy wooden toys. Daughter (7) still plays with a wooden Plan Toys dollhouse which is filled with random things - mix of Sylvanian Families, Maileg, gemstones, food off Temu, etc etc. The Holztag / Ostheimer wooden animals still get some love. So do play silks and wooden fort clips.

All three of mine do still play with Magnatiles, Duplo and Lego so those plastic toys for me were worth it.
