How many seats in Mini Cooper?

I've got my eyes on a used 5 door Mini Cooper at a good price, I've been as a passenger before and really love this car. How many seat belts are there in the back? I'm wondering if it's possible to fit three children in the rear seats comfortably. I'll be arranging a test drive this week but would like to get a better idea about it before.

No, they're teenagers.

Comfortably, no.

Devianinc · 27/06/2025 02:40

Two

ClareBlue · 27/06/2025 02:40

The record is 29 in a mini cooper
5 is no probs😂

It has five seats. Realistically though it has two seats. No passenger can sit comfortably in the back for long periods. Expecting teens to sit in the back of a mini is abuse.

It would be a squash, wouldn’t be a car i’d choose if I had 3 teens to go into the back.

I appreciate it's not the best but 3 wouldn't go in the back very often at the same time. Maybe 4-5 times a week for a 20 min journey. Would this be safe? Are there 3 seatbelts? How much of a squash is it? Happy to hear it won't work just wondered if others use the back of a mini for 3 teen sized passengers

DH had one as a company car. It was only 2 door though.

DC who was around 16 at the time couldn't fit in the back. Other DC 14 just about managed.

Sherararara · 27/06/2025 06:34

Considering you can get 4 elephants in a mini you should be fine.

casimirscattery · 27/06/2025 06:34

If this was your teenager, would you be happy for them to share the backseat with 2 others a few times a week for lifts?

DC are going to get bigger. Take them on the test drive. I don't think it will work.

The countryman is bot as cute but way roomier.

Plinkyplink · 27/06/2025 06:47

I’m not sure about the 5 door version but I had a new 3 door cooper as a courtesy car recently and it was two in the back max. There were only 2 seatbelts in the back, so couldn’t put a third in even if you wanted to!

Nina1013 · 27/06/2025 06:48

I had one a couple of years ago and I’m sure it only had 2 seats in the back….

One I had ten years ago definitely did.

Iloveasunnyday · 27/06/2025 06:49

I have got the two door electric Mini. Only two seatbelts in the back. Not a chance of fitting three teens in there even if there were three seatbelts as it's really small.
Luckily, there is only usually me and my dog in the car.

casimirscattery · 27/06/2025 06:52

The one I'm considering is a 5 door mini.

We have a mini, only 2 seatbelt in the back. We can fit 2 car seats no problem but 3 teenagers would be tough.

The one I'm considering is a 5 door mini.

It's exactly the same size car but has a seatbelt on the hump between the two back seats. You would fit two teens but really struggle to fit 3.

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 27/06/2025 07:02

No, you would not easily, if at all, fit 3 teenagers. Probably the most ridiculous car to consider for teenagers.

So 3 seatbelts in the back, but very small. Will comfortably sit 2 but not 3, seems to be the verdict? That's a shame, but best to know before arranging a test drive.

i have a 5 door mini.

I have two baby seats in it easily and I can get in the middle seat between them no problem.

I’ve picked up my husband and his two mates before and the two lads fitted in the back no problem and they are athletic men.

three teenagers I would say yes. Will it be a squeeze? Yea. But I’d rather be squished in a car for a lift than have to walk to there’s that

mumisfull · 27/06/2025 07:05

I have a 5 door mini and take 3 teen girls in the back once a week for 15 min journey and then home again. It is a squash and I think any longer would be too much.
