Tiffany & Co. fake or real?

socksandshoos · 26/06/2025 15:02

Bought on Vinted including the Vinted verification - a tag sized Vinted card with an illigible signature & Vinted bag. No actual confirmation of authentication.

Box seems cheap for a luxury brand and pouch has a label inside that says Packaging made in China - again the quality surprised me.

Jewellery itself has all the right hallmarks so I really can’t tell.

Am going to a Tiffany store tomorrow to check but if anyone has the genuine article how does mine compare?

I can't help you with your query, but hope you can get a refund, if it turns out to be fake. It's a lot of money - I presume - to take a gamble on.

Nina1013 · 26/06/2025 15:11

This is not from their luxury goods, it’s from their souvenir range. Known for being overpriced for what quality you get.

SparklyBrickViper · 26/06/2025 15:12

If it is fake you might not get it back from the store, they are obliged to destroy fake items.

SaturdayDream · 26/06/2025 15:13

Probably a Hacoo or DH Gate copy. I’ve seen those on there for about £7.

IlovePond · 26/06/2025 15:14

Hi @socksandshoos - I can’t help with the item itself, but I have just checked the inside of one of my Tiffany jewellery bags and it doesn’t have the Made in China label, (no label at all inside). I got mine from Tiffany so know it is ‘genuine’.

Having said that, mine is donkeys years old, so more recent Tiffany pouches may be different.

housesellin · 26/06/2025 15:22

I have lots of Tiffany jewellery. The box and foam inside does look like that, as does the card - seems incredibly cheap, used to be much better. But the tell for me is the bag, I recently bought a £200 necklace direct from Tiffany and my blue bag doesn’t have that label or anything inside.

DesireAs · 26/06/2025 15:23

This is a genuine pouch from a purchase made in Tiffany & Co this year.
I’d be inclined to trust the Vinted verification - I would take the ‘expertly verified by’ as confirmation?

Also I can’t be certain from the pic but the drawstring looks fake - the strings to tighten the bag are opposing sides and run around the whole circumference, yours looks like it comes out the other side?

This doesn’t look ANYTHING like mine from the store. All my draw string pouches are the same from the last 10 years, no label inside and much better quality than this… I’ll take a pic in a minute!!

Lostsadandconfused · 26/06/2025 15:26

Probably the most faked ‘designer’ item in the world so the odds aren’t good.

DesireAs · 26/06/2025 15:39

@housesellin I just checked another pouch from a couple of years ago (same store) & it has a ‘Made in Vietnam’ label!

could it be where you get the items from, maybe? So in store vs online store vs concession?!

Either way, I don’t think the box / pouch are the best way to tell here Op, I think you need to look closely at the branding on the chain. Plus it’s authenticated so I suppose that’s enough!

I bought a bracelet from Tiffany in 2023 and the pouch looks just like this. It does have the Made in China tag, and it has the little pocket on the inside. The bracelet wasn't a super expensive piece, It was only about $400, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

IlovePond · 26/06/2025 15:47

On a sort of related note and thinking of my previous post:

Fakers often buy real packaging to use with their counterfeit goods to give added authenticity. I would therefore focus on the item itself rather than the pouch and box.

The key thing with Tiffany is that every link in a chain is perfectly soldered. I am currently wearing my little silver link bracelet that was ‘relatively’ cheap when bought many many years ago in the US and I was surprised and impressed just now when I noticed how perfectly each link is soldered. It’s not something I had really thought about before. Lettering/stamping is also very important.

mumonthehill · 26/06/2025 15:51

I have the heart on now! On one end of the chain it has a small long flat link that is stamped Tiffany and co. On the back of the heart it is stamped with hallmarks and says Tiffany and Co Peretti 925. This an older one now but genuine.

socksandshoos · 26/06/2025 15:57

Thanks for your replies. I paid £200 ((695rrp)

Seller has responded saying gift from an ex (suprise suprise) so no proof of purchase and doesnt want to ask him which I get. She’s offered a refund if I send it back (Vinted haven’t paid her yet so she hasn’t been paid & the sale is on hold)

Also maybe the ex knowingly bought a fake but didn’t say 🤣

Spoke to Tiffany who said pouch she just checked didn’t have a tag inside but didn’t say never.

The jewellery itself has all the right markings.

If it's been authenticated by Vinted, I'd trust that tbh.

If you don't trust that, what was the point in getting it verified?

Pinkpupsx · 26/06/2025 16:14

I have this necklace (I believe from the pic) so let me know if you want me to check anything!

Davemyfave · 26/06/2025 16:23

well i had a fake longchamp from Vinted so i wouldn't trust them.sent that back got refund. Trust your instincts & send back.

socksandshoos · 26/06/2025 16:54

Oh dear, it’s not looking great. She sent me a screen shot with a purchase number. When I called customer services they told me that order had been cancelled so they have no further info
