Is it rude to interrupt?

I am getting increasingly frustrated with people interrupting me mid conversation.
I work in a customer facing role, this involves me sitting in one to one appointments with customers who have booked appointments.
I love my job and the service I provide. However I have to sit these appointments in a shop floor environment and I often have other customers completely interrupt me whilst I'm obviously in mid conversation.
But I'm also now noticing that even when I'm not in an appointment and just helping a customer another will barge in and demand that I deal with them immediately.
Often they excuse their behaviour as they are short on time, but their need is greater than the person I'm already dealing with.

I'm at the end of my tether with it.

Yes, it's very rude and not just you, but the existing customer!
