I've just read the post you put originally. I think I'd be informing the school of everything your son has told you, he sounds really down and you'll regret not speaking up if he were to harm himself In any way.
I'm not sure what the secondary schools are like in your area but around here we have the pastoral team, a Chaplin that comes in once a week if the kids want someone to just offload on, and also counselling is available in school.
