To think that EBay is shit and needs a rehaul?

I don’t buy things on eBay regularly. Twice a year, maybe. I don’t do the whole bidding thing; I use it like I might use Amazon, and buy something new.
I made a purchase a couple of days ago. The ad had the British flag on it, which reeled me in as I thought it might actually be a UK seller with speedy postage times. No, it’s from China 😆
I checked the status of the order today. Payment has been accepted but the item is unsent. It looks like the seller has been removed from the site. I have manually cancelled the order but it will take days to sort.
Is it just me, or is the whole thing outdated and really crap?

eBay used to be brilliant for selling stuff.

Now it's just endless cheap Chinese shit and mass sellers. Even just buying secondhand books is a pain, I complained recently about a seller advertising a completely different edition of a book (their response: "We just use a stock photo") and eBay's AI bot said they hadn't broken any rules.

Even selling is dreadful, I advertised a book on there and got an offer excluding postage. Except that after I accepted, it changed to saying the offer included postage and by the time I'd covered that AND eBays fees, I'd made less than £1. Much as it pissed off the buyer, I cancelled it and resold on Vinted.

I've given up. For anything secondhand I use Vinted, for anything else I use Amazon.

Yes its hit and miss. I buy a few bits from there and you can usually guarantee that if its being sold at a cheaper than usual price then its coming from China. It annoys me that they state in the listing that its a UK company, then you click on 'about' and it says its China based. They try to go out of their way to cover up that its coming from China, even hiding the Chinese women's faces on the pictures, say to show pictures of clothes etc. Its because they know that their products are usually inferior quality, incorrect sizes and fakes. I got stung a couple of times with this in the past but I've wised up to it now. There are still a lot of cheap copies and fakes on Ebay but they don't seem to care.
