To be concerned about this number I called back?

I has a voicemail from someone claiming to be my company's energy supplier and requesting an urgent call back. They left their name and it was a local UK dialling code. I returned the call and it was answered by a woman who didnt answer as a company would. It was just a 'hello'. I asked for the person who left the voicemail and the woman was very rude and said she needed to know where I was calling from before she could put me through. I ended the call there and then and didn't give any details but I'm concerned that maybe the number I dialled may rack up a huge bill or something.

They’ve hijacked her number maybe , same happened to my mum

Sounds like a scammer. They probably use more than one company name so need you to say if you’re after Eon or Sky, Tesco or Thames Water.

Next time if your utility company call Google their actual switchboard and talk to them. Or Google the number given by the scammer to see if it’s a known scam number. Never call back the number who made the call without checking who owns that number.

Thank you. So you don't think the fact I called what seemed like a landline number will bring a huge bill?
