A friend and I were talking earlier about The Fear by Lily Allen, which I always thought was a bit of a good retro bop with a message. My friend said: "What message, something about money wasn't it?" I said it was about consumerism and media pressure on what we 'should' be spending money on... she didn't realise that the line 'I look in the Sun and I look at the Mirror' was about the redtops, she thought it was the literal sun and looking at yourself in the mirror (the latter kind of makes sense in terms of: "What kind of money monster have I become?!" I guess).
And I only realised this morning that we write: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc because it's the number and the last two letters of the word itself. Only occurred to me because my colleague is dyslexic and writes 2end... but yeah, it's the last two letters. I knew what they were, but I didn't know why until today! I am 46.4 years old!
Tell me your discoveries so I feel a bit less dense please! 😂
