To offer discounted treatment for content

I have my own business, and I work with vulnerable patients, namely, those with burns and huge scars.

Recently, I am getting more and more enquiries, asking if I have any pictures of my work, so prospective patients can decide if they want to book in. Generally, I don't. I don't ask patients if I can take pictures, which is ultimately for my business development.

To work with this, I wondered your thoughts on if running a content day would be a good idea? I'd offer discounted treatment, in return for pictures/some filming (confidential of course). I can build a portfolio to show, which I would also use on social media, but without putting anyone on the spot and asking if they minded. This way, all participants would be volunteering.

AIBU to consider this?

I think that's fine and you do need to be able to demonstrate your success. However it also needs to be done sensitively so potentially faces anonymised etc.

Brilliant idea and I might be interested do you have a Facebook or website I can look at please

I think this is a great idea. I'd make sure the discount was a good one though, not just 10% off. And I would ask them to sign release forms so you are covered legally. (Apologies if you across this already.)

It sounds a good idea, you can be very clear what the pictures will be used for and maybe have a get-out clause where they can top up the fee if they change their minds when they see the pictures? Get a consent form.

I think that’s fine. You just need to to ensure that they properly consent and that involves being completely clear on all the ways you would use the content e.g. sending it to people and/or having it on your website/instagram. You should definitely create a proper consent form for them to sign too. The form should be clear on the fact that you will own the images/video content but place restrictions on how you will use it so they don’t feel it’s completely one sided.

You may want to start by asking people who you have already done work for as you know you can do a good job with them and they are more likely to feel comfortable with you doing this.
