Listening to Steve Bartlett & Esther Perel (on Diary on a CEO) discuss the story about a man who tracked his dating app (tinder) over 5 years and found he made 2 million swipes, of which approximately 3000 matches of which led to 400 conversations and led to 1 date. With such abysmal numbers, will we ever meet a decent match again??

If his numbers are that bad I think that's on him rather than dating in general.

I think the vast majority of people have a better conversion rate than one date every five years/two million swipes/23,000 matches.

What constitutes as a conversation?

When you see the man's profile you understand why he had so few matches.

I’ve been single for a while and tried to get back into dating earlier this year - all two of the guys I went on dates with spoke about how hard it is for men on dating apps. It’s not a huge survey size but I did think it was interesting.

I still think women have worse experiences on dating apps compared to men.

I have listened to a few of the DOC podcasts and I do think he is sexist and borderline mysoginist. He simply cannot empathise with anything that he deems to be feminine. Its clear that he feels that men are entitled to sex, and he is intersted in how to "game" the system.

I also think he is a bit overrated, like he is constantly trying to sell me ideas without having any really insightful questions. I don't really buy that he is a good business man either, he strikes me as really immature and would be a nightmare in a crisis.
