Would you get into bed with dirty feet?

Showered this morning.

Just took Ddog for a walk in the woods, it’s hot so everything was dusty and I had my flip flops on. Feet are dirty.

I’m lay on my bed (white) but there’s no dirt anywhere and it hasn’t come off onto the bed.
Feeling too hot & lazy to go and wash my feet.
I’d be okay with leaving them, but i’m thinking that’s probably not how the average person is!

Would you have to wash them?

I wash my feet before getting into bed, even if they're not muddy, dusty or sweaty. That's my sensory thing, though - I'm quite happy to get into bed (alone) unwashed elsewhere.

GammonAndEgg · 15/06/2025 20:21

I put a foot at a time into the sink! I’m in my 60s but flexible enough. I was wondering last night what I’ll do when I can’t manage it anymore!!

TheChosenTwo · 15/06/2025 20:23

If there’s no dirt on my feet I’d be okay getting into bed. If they’re visibly grubby I’ll have a quick 3 minute shower to wash them.
But mostly I have a bath before bed anyway so it doesn’t really come up!
Dh also showers before bed in the warmer weather too.

Ponderingwindow · 15/06/2025 20:25

I don’t get into bed without taking a quick shower, even if I showered earlier in the day. I just find it gross to get into bed without being freshly washed.

BellyPork · 15/06/2025 20:27

Skanky

Didimum · 15/06/2025 20:27

I don’t even look at my feet before going to bed. Not dead yet.

HeddaGarbled · 15/06/2025 20:29

You’ll feel much better for some cold water on your feet.

Pollqueen · 15/06/2025 20:29

Probably not

If you keep doing it regularly you'll probably keep the flexibility!
If not, just stand in the shower tray or bathtub and wash them with the shower head, presumably.

I would not feel compelled to wash my feet unless they were visibly dirty (in my opinion feet are always a bit dirty so I'm strict on feet not being put on the pillows / head end of the bed). I will wash my arms before getting into bed, if they're grubby and I don't want to have a full shower.

EstherGreenwood63 · 15/06/2025 20:29

Yes. Just a cool rinse will make you feel better.

lilaclemon · 15/06/2025 20:36

Always wash my feet before bed. Couldn’t sleep otherwise

uncomfortablydumb60 · 15/06/2025 20:47

Your bed, your rules
If I was knackered, I'd do the same.

I don't think I'd think of my feet as being dirty in that situation. It wouldn't occur to me to wash them. I only wash them when I have a shower and am washing everything generally or if I had stepped in something sticky or disgusting like bodily fluids or food.

Koazy · 15/06/2025 20:55

No

user2848502016 · 15/06/2025 21:01

I would just sit on the edge of the bath and wash them if you don’t want a full shower. Wouldn’t get in to bed with dirty feet no (normal daily sweat ok, but actual dirt no)

Meanttobeworking · 15/06/2025 21:02

This is not the sort of thing I would even think about tbh Blush

NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/06/2025 21:04

Up to you, but if your feet were cooler and cleaner (along with the rest of you after a shower), you'd probably feel much better/go to sleep more easily - and you'd be saving yourself from feeling grit/dust in the bed against your skin during the night.

Cherrycola4 · 15/06/2025 21:05

I would wash them if I had a white bed.

Right. I'm actually surprised that most people are saying they would. I thought everyone would say the OP is being OTT!

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 15/06/2025 21:10

In that situation yes, I would have to get up and wash my feet.

You'll put your feet into the shower or bath!
Having said that, I don't wash my feet before going to bed, but then my feet only have sweat on them, not mud, etc. Maybe I would if I would be bringing stuff from the forest into the bed.

Come on, this is MN where some people wash their towels after one use and refuse to have a toilet brush.

helpfulperson · 15/06/2025 21:16

Never in my 57 years have I heard of people washing their feet before bed. I'm sure mumsnet just makes up things to make us feel inadequate.

monkeysox · 15/06/2025 21:17

2 mins shower for face, pits, bits and feet.

GoneGirl12345 · 15/06/2025 21:18

Shower before bed every evening. Can't fathom being in bed without a wash first if I have been out and about, let alone having muddy feet.
