To be questioning things because of this?!

Been dating a guy and we have got very close and it’s getting more serious. I just viewed his instagram story from last night and it’s two desserts in a restaurant, one in front of the other and a cocktail as well. Aibu to be questioning things because of this, makes me feel like it’s a date he was on? Can’t ask him without sounding obsessive and he might not tell the truth anyway.

Can’t ask him without sounding obsessive and he might not tell the truth anyway.

No point in being with him then either way 🤷‍♂️

You can’t be that keen on him if you think about ending the ‘relationship ‘ because of a picture of a dessert….

Look up solipsism if you have to, OP.

justkeepswimingswiming · 14/06/2025 18:44

Well if he doesnt tell you the truth, why would you want to be with him?

Floral199 · 14/06/2025 18:46

Well, I don’t know if he’d tell the truth or not really, who knows. But the set up looks like a date to me

Where did he tell you he was last night?

Surely he could have easily been with his mum/grandmother/sister/friend and had dessert at a restaurant?

I think you’re jumping to a conclusion that he’s been on a date because of some insecurity on your part unless there’s about to be some almighty drip feed or he has form for cheating.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 14/06/2025 18:55

Bit quick to judge imo
He could have taken his Mum for a birthday meal, or a million other events
If you're this insecure then you need to stop dating and work on your self esteem

babystarsandmoon · 14/06/2025 18:59

Was he in contact with you last night? Did you not check in with each other this morning where you could have said did you have a good night last night?

I would assume it was a date if I’m honest but then I’ve had men bombard with me attention only for them to end up having a girlfriend. Some went as far as being in constant contact and sending me voice notes and photos while on holiday with their partners.

ohyesido · 14/06/2025 19:02

The subconscious mind will always find echo to support what it believes to be true. On its own it’s just a picture of two desserts. But if you already believe he is cheating on you then of course that’s the conclusion you have reached.

Slatterndisgrace · 14/06/2025 19:09

Wouldn’t it be a natural thing to talk about what you do when you aren’t seeing each other? Wouldn’t what he did last night come up and then you’d know?

Is there a reason you’re suspicious? Or are you an anxious person?

There’s an advert in between these posts with a dog sharing a table - he could’ve taken his dog out OP. ☺️
