To send child to school after being sick

Child was sick due to being exhausted (awake since 2.30am!) and having just drunk a laxative drink too quickly.
Obviously can never be 100% sure it’s not a bug so I guess I can’t send them to school for the next 48 hours? 😭

Sounds like the child needs some sleep! I’d give them a day to rest and cover your bases. You’ll soon know if it’s something else.

If it’s obviously something unrelated to illness, I send my DS in.

For example, he got himself so worked up over a moth being in the bathroom (a total phobia of his for no explicable reason) that he was sick one evening. I didn’t keep him off school because he wasn’t unwell.

Keep them off tomorrow and see if they have a temperature or any other symptoms.

They certainly do! As do I! 2.30 is too early 😏

I always keep my son home if I think there's any chance he could have an upset stomach in school.

I know the 48 hour rule is mainly about stopping the spread of illness (and rightly so) but to be honest my main worry would be that he could have a really embarrassing experience if it was a bug.

Middle dc throws up a little bit at least once a fortnight from not liking a taste/smell so never keep them off, I can tell if they’re ill.

But sickness from exhaustion, seems like they need a day off school anyway

My nephew used to puke for England when he was overtired…….GP explained that it was some form of migraine and there was nothing medical wrong. Needless to say, he was always encouraged to get a good nights sleep because he knew how poorly the exhaustion made him feel.

With D & V it is normal to keep them off for 48hours
