To be annoyed at arriving late to a thread

It's a juicy one. The OP is great, incredibly inviting. You have something important to say. But we're already 100+ posts in and you know you should read it before you post in case it's already been said but you're sick of staring at a screen and let's face it you don't really have the time (unless it's the middle of the night ofc).

So long as you've read all the OP 's posts it doesn't matter much if you haven't read all the contributions to the thread. If you have something to say then say it.

It's the people who post but haven't bothered reading the OP's updates that are just absolutely infuriating.

At least you don't bother - good for you. So many people just carry on and post some irrelevant bullshit based solely on an op.

Well actually that's sometimes what an OP needs: to know that a lot of posters share the same opinion on the subject she has started the thread about.

I'm one those people that has the endless scrolling rather than page numbers so I don't really read long threads as much.

Hahaha, I like it on rare occasion I’m the first or second poster, because it often sets the tone for the thread.

E.g. I like to tell the OP ‘YANBU’ as soon as possible to avoid the posters who just pile on to the OP.

You're doing right, OP! There was a thread on here recently (probably still is) about first cousin marriages.
Various posters came on to claim, erroneously, that the late Queen and Prince Philip were first cousins. Each time, someone would come on and correct them, with evidence. It just got very tiring.
Same wrong thing.

Yep. I'll read the OP and really have something decent/amazing/worthwhile/experience of, that would be useful to share. I read all of the OPs responses, go to comment, see there's already 18 pages so I don't bother!
And MN misses out ! 😉

And then sometimes posters start counting the number of times the same comment gets repeated, and pointing & laughing.

There’s been about 3 threads this evening where I could have commented and didn’t basically because lots of people got there before me. I do try and check whether someone has said what I wanted to say, but a few times when I wade in anyway!

Booooo it just happened again. Annoyingly I first spotted the thread briefly a day or so ago, so I could have been relevant. Was just too busy at the time. Sigh....

I thought that was fixable.

I agree, OP. It is even worse now the app has been updated, as the scrolling judders along slowly and enters the circle of death to load.
I tend to just read the op posts so at least I'm updated on the story.
