So fecking fed up of spam callers

I am so careful with my phone number. Only give it to trusted organisations. I suspect this is linked to the m&s breach or something similar because since around that time, I have been receiving up to 10 spam phonecalls a day. It is driving me insane. I really don't want to change my phone number but am feeling like I might have to. I block them every time but just keep getting calls. Is anyone else being bombarded with spam calls?

Yes! I kept blocking them and they stopped within a few weeks

Dangermoo · 10/06/2025 09:53

Not exactly bombarded but I rarely answer my phone if it's an unknown number. I just add it to my block list when I've played their voicemail message. It's obviously harder to do on landlines. I do like how blocked numbers come up as suspected spam when then try and call again.

soontobeconfirmed · 10/06/2025 09:54

Yep. I posted about this previously. It is so bloody annoying. They haven't even apologised.

Coffeeishot · 10/06/2025 09:54

Your details are often passed on to 3rd party or they use old fashioned dealers, I don't think it's all down to security breaches. My mum is in her 70s doesn't go online for anything has no Credit cards or a mobile phone, her land line never stops with scam calls!

soontobeconfirmed · 10/06/2025 09:55

And emails. All the bloody time. Why on earth people are so excited to sign back up with M&S is beyond me

smallglassbottle · 10/06/2025 09:55

Just keep blocking them. Also your phone might have a spam blocker/call screening thing built in which you can turn on. I don't answer calls that I don't recognise or that come from other parts of the country as they're usually spoofed numbers. Anyone who's genuine can leave a message. My friends and family all call via WhatsApp.

Don't buy things direct from China either.

This is 100% from the M&S leaks. They started the day it happened and it's the only account that I use the email address for (didn't mean to use it as its my spam free email)

VestanPance · 10/06/2025 09:56

I use the Silence Unknown Calls on my phone. That filters them. Sometimes it means I have to call someone back, but a small price to pay as I mainly use my phone for people I know.

spikefaithbuffyangel · 10/06/2025 09:57

Register on the telephone preference service, it cut my spam calls massively

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 10/06/2025 09:58

Set up a spam filter on your phone so that it silences those kinds of calls, then just block the numbers.

Game0fCrones · 10/06/2025 10:02

Yes, We've had a big increase at work too. Add to that the fake texts and emails and its a full time job dealing with them. So annoying.

So did M&S outsource their IT to a foreign country then? I havent heard why the breach happened.

I’ve had loads lately. I usually ignore any numbers that I don’t recognise but a couple weeks ago I picked up two of them as I was awaiting a phone call from someone but didn’t know what number it’d be from. I assume answering has now marked my line as active because it hasn’t stopped since even though I’ve stopped answering 🤦‍♀️ they are all the same, an automated voice saying to add them on WhatsApp for a work opportunity, all different numbers.

Brookester · 24/09/2025 20:08

I’ve been getting around 10 spam phone calls a day from mobiles since Sep 8th.
