Vinted order in a takeaway bag?

swervefan · 09/06/2025 20:14

I order loads on there and yeah had some odd packaging but I really think delivering in a takeaway bag is just gross, aibu?

OP posts:
xPenelopePitstop · 09/06/2025 20:15

Was there food/grease on the bag?

Spies · 09/06/2025 20:17

Does it have food residue on it, if not I don't see the issue, it's just a bag?

MiniMilkBottle · 09/06/2025 20:21

What type of takeaway bag? I had something delivered in a bread bag which seemed really gross

Mlk2024 · 09/06/2025 20:22

Vinted really is the gift that keeps on giving 🙈 The packaging people send items in is crazy! I buy a roll of postage paper and that lasts ages and is about £2!

Then we have the ridiculously cheeky offers, the inboxing with a sob story to try and get you to sell cheaper, the offers you accept that then don’t pay 🙈 and the other thing that annoys me is the condition people put stuff on as new with tags when there are no tags or liek new when it look like it’s been washed 50 times is faded has stains on and is not in excellent condition at all!

I can’t cope with it all but am actually obsessed 🤣

Baroluleni · 09/06/2025 20:25

I buy and sell lots and lots and lots on Vinted.
Like others, actually a bit obsessed.
i don’t mind whatever it comes in.
what I do hate is the smell of other people laundry (it’s a weird thing I know) and people who put tumble dryer sheets inside.
I have one smelling laundry product I like and that’s that.
All others trigger my clearly menopausal sensory overload 😂

nomas · 09/06/2025 20:27

It could have been a clean bag. You don’t say if it smelled.

Neveranynamesleft · 09/06/2025 20:37

Recycling at its finest....

xPenelopePitstop · 09/06/2025 22:20

@swervefan come back please don’t leave us in suspense😂

I need to know if there were Chinese takeaway remains on your item!

Moier · 09/06/2025 22:26

I got a pair of shoes in a cereal box once.
No packaging inside or out.
The label just stuck to the box.
When l took the shoes out a load of coco pops came out of the shoes.🤣

Never used Vinted. You aren’t selling me the concept 😂

goodnightssleepbenice · 09/06/2025 23:08

@MoierBrilliant 😂

Satonatrain · 09/06/2025 23:19

@Moier have faux pas’ed!?!

I recently sent a sky router in a KitKat cereal box.

I did put it in an Asda bag for life after though sealed with fragile tape...

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/06/2025 23:21

I'm sick of getting things wrapped up in thin bin bags with 800 yards of parcel tape wrapped round them.

It can take half an hour to battle through to the contents.

CarpetKnees · 09/06/2025 23:46

I don't see the problem.
surely a bag is a bag, whatever it has printed on the outside of it.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 10/06/2025 00:02

As long as it's strong enough I don't mind at all. What I do mind is parcels which are stuck with a seemingly whole roll of the stickiest parcel tape. I take my keyring scissors with me to the locker to open it then put it all in Sainsbury's bin
i got something delivered in a cat food pouch box once that I almost threw against the wall in frustration

slinkiemalinkiey · 10/06/2025 00:17

I use loads of tape as I'm scared people will rip into the parcels 😬

Not so long ago I sent expensive face cream I sold on eBay in a small tea bag box, then in a jiffy bag, just to give it a bit of extra protection in the post (I sometimes buy the M&S beauty boxes and if there are items I know I won't use, sell them before I've even opened them).

The buyer complained I'd ripped her off because she thought I'd sent her tea bags instead of the face cream she'd paid £20 for. She'd not even looked in the box of course.

It all worked out well in the end but it hadn't occurred to me she'd complain to eBay without checking what she'd actually been sent.

But surely if people know they're opening something containing clothes, they're going to be careful.

I always take great care. I reuse the packaging anyway when I sell things.

Parcels covered in six yards of gaffer tape really annoy me.

Same here. I only have one functional arm and it's so frustrating

I mean people who shouldn't be opening it while in transit.

OriginalSkang · 10/06/2025 10:47

I reuse all kinds of packaging. I would never use something with any food residue or smell, but I have used the outer packaging of takeaways when it's in a few bags. I dont see the point in not reusing something or spending money on paper when I dont need to?!

I sell a lot online. I roll of paper worth £2 wouldn't last five mins! What's the point of cutting into profit anyway?

Moier · 10/06/2025 10:51

I buy and sell loads.
I do re use bags by turning them inside out.. from my deliveries if any good.
But l buy in bulk from Ebay.. l get good reviews for my packaging..

You need sharper scissors
