Is it worth working an extra hour a day?

I’m returning to work 3 days a week after maternity leave and trying to work out if it’s worth asking for 3 slightly longer days. Obviously this would be for financial reasons only. It would be an extra 2 hours a week / 40 mins a day and mean I’m working pretty much 8 hour days not including lunch. By the time you’ve added lunch on it would be an extra hour on my working day.

Because I’d only be extending my day slightly, is it ridiculous to even suggest it? I usually do this extra work anyway when working FT but wonder if asking for it will open myself up to scrutiny and being watched a bit more over just doing 3 regular days, and if that’s more pressure than it’s worth? The difference is one hundred pounds a month ish.

YABU - don’t ask for this, I’ll explain why
YANBU - might as well ask!

Why would you be watched more? I did this after maternity leave and it was fine. The only difficult thing was working such long hours close to nursery opening and closing time (by the time I factored in traveling between work and nursery) which meant I was always rushing around.
