Am I able to check for someone elses partner without there knowledge? is there a possibility the partner will know I/they have done so?
this person has spent time in prison but I’m unsure if there was violence/abuse. i believe his emotionally abusive and to me that’s bad enough but I’m concerned things are going to get worse.

Yes you can but the police won't give you the information, they will contact your friend if they feel that the information they have means he poses a risk. They won't tell her who asked for the disclosure though. Would she guess it's you, do you think?

Yes definitely, I’m the only person who she confides in
