Am I just unlucky?

Over the past year or so whenever I go to a spa there is always at least one couple groping each other in the pool and/or snogging loudly in the relaxation areas. Am I just unlucky???

There’s nothing worse than lying down in a quiet area and hearing sloppy snogging noises, often accompanied by heavy breathing and sometimes other things 🤮 The “nests” at center parcs are the worst because they are enclosed and relatively private.

Makes me not want to go any more - so, so gross and awkward 😂

Go and relax somewhere where a happy couple isn't. You sound jealous.

Shoxfordian · 03/06/2025 15:54

A free show as well as a spa 😂

Such a measured and insightful response...

OP, I got to the CP spa for a weekend with my husband once a year. We're very much in love and, I think, very romantic, and (despite the above comment from a PP) I totally get what you mean about the gross, OTT PDAs in the nests etc. It's not far removed from dry humping sometimes, and no one wants to see/hear that when they're snoozing or reading! The worst one is in the hydrotherapy type pool where they think the water means no one can see what they're doing.

God almighty this has put me off Spas and center parks forever .

🥱 it didn't take long for someone to come up with that lazy response.

Labragoogle · 03/06/2025 15:59

I think the couples spa packages mean it’s almost encouraged in some spas! I’ve made the mistake of doing an evening spa bcos it was cheaper & was full of couples being “romantic” in the sauna & heated pool etc it was grim!

Copperlightning · 03/06/2025 16:02

It sounds grim. Spas don’t appeal to me at all - not a luxury for me - but this sounds horrendous. Think of the ‘juices’ that must be mixed into the water.

I’ve been happily married for 20 years - I don’t expect everyone to listen to us getting it on when they are trying to have a quiet, relaxing moment 😂😂😂

So bizarre that someone would think this was jealousy 🤣🤣

We used to enjoy the quietness and the warmth (I'm perpetually cold and used to dream of the saunas and steam rooms for weeks in advance) when we went every January, but decided our visit this year was definitely our last!!

Blimey what's the name of this spa.. And no I'm not going lol. Isn't that what their room is for!?

You would think!! I’ve been to maybe 6/7 spa days at Center Parcs and other places over about 18 months and it’s happened every time.

I’ve been at CP today with my 65 year old mum for her birthday. Even the sight of our cellulite on display hasn’t dampened the mood for some people….

Sounds like this is fairly common though, so I guess I’ll just relax in the garden from now on!

I’ve been to spas quite a few times and never noticed this happening! Can’t you say “ewww” and pull a face at them to put them off? 😁

I think it would make it worse some couples just get off on their being an audience. They Probably don't go anywhere near each other behind closed doors

ChocolateFairy25 · 03/06/2025 18:21

My overall point was just go somewhere else. I would never go to a spa, I have ocd and find them a breeding ground for germs and other people's bad habits...

If you can't handle it don't go! It's clearly commonplace from what people are saying and not against any 'spa rules' if there is such a thing. I just wouldn't go.

To me the way you worded it was just that people shouldn't be kissing in public which I think is ridiculous, surely if it bothers you that much... move... spas have more than one area right?!

Think I'll stick to my own bath with some nice bath salts and face masks then 😂🛀
