Get weird looks over moles

Notyouthful · 02/06/2025 21:16

I have lots of moles (thanks DM) over my arms, face and legs. People give me odd looks. One lady said “those moles are hideous”

Had a few moles removed due to rubbing on bra straps and on neckline.

I feel uncomfortable. Why are people negative towards very moley people?

Some people are very rude and will always find something to judge.

This is true really

As I tell my child, just because someone says something doesn't mean it's true and if someone wants to be horrible then they'll be horrible about anything and find anything to be horrible about

I'm sorry that you have had negative comments and looks from people.

My mum had a skin coloured, little lump next to her nose when I was young. She too thought people looked at it and was so glad when she had it removed.

I can't say why people stare, but usually through ignorance. People may think they are contagious? They may wonder what they are? They might wonder why you haven't removed the facial ones? Hard to say.

I say this as someone with lots of freckles and as a child lived abroad. I've have randoms come up to be and try telling my parents in another language what creams and things to put on my skin to cure me!

A random told you your moles were hideous?? That’s insane behaviour on their part!

I think people just have this stupid one size fits all standard of beauty and clear, poreless, pearlescent skin is one of them so anything that goes against the grain in that regard is automatically considered undesirable.

If you aren’t bothered by them, forget the looks and crack on being gorgeous in your unique way!

Are they flat moles or more like skin tags? I know a woman who has skin tags literally all over her face and what I've seen of her body, but they're caused by a medical condition. Before my kids first met her we had to have a conversation about how we don't comment on people's bodies. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I know it's been hell for her.

Some people are just rude, that’s an awful thing for you to hear. I’m sorry it happened.

I have one leg, people stare and make comments, so I started wearing fancy fashion footwear. It gives the idiots something to look at and gives me the option to think ‘they’re admiring my boots’. Win win.

Maybe try some statement jewellery, to make you feel less like they are staring at you and your moles. You shouldn’t have to do any of this but I’ve found it helps.

They are mainly flat. Have 3 on my arms which have changed so need checking.

Have another skin condition around eyes which produces skin colour cysts. Had 4 removed. One was in my eyebrow and that turned out to be a Basel cell carcinoma (bcc) a slow growing cancer. No need for treatment as the cancer was only in the cyst.

You can’t see the cysts as my glasses hides them

That's awful, OP. I'd never speak to that horrible woman who said your moles were hideous again.

Seriously - if I were you I'd have a few choice come-backs ready for people like that, and don't hold back. People who say things like that need a hard lesson.

I’m so sorry people can be such arseholes @Notyouthful and I say this as a fairly moley person myself 💐

I think we all realise eventually that our appearance is not the most important thing about us, but some find this difficult to grasp and project outwards at others. In other words, it’s a them problem, not a you problem.

The woman who said to you they are “hideous” is an absolute dick. You’ve not chosen the way your skin looks, but she has chosen to be cruel, or at the very least she is utterly thoughtless. I can’t imagine what goes through some people’s minds that they think it’s ok to ever comment to a person about their appearance unless it’s a compliment.
