What to do … house move

I’m moving in to a house that needs a lotmof
decorating done. I move in 3 weeks. I am spending 12 hours decorating so when am i meant to pack? Im leaving at 8am and not getting home till 9pm!!!! When do I pack? It needs doing yet I keep feeling so overwhelmed:(

Well you stop decorating a few days before you move and pack your stuff. And then finish the decorating after. People do decorate when they are living in houses...

Exactly that. Prioritise your house move or do what we did and have the removal company pack you up. Ours took a week to pack us up and move us and you’ve probably left it very late to organise.

OMG I've done this(!)

In the early 1990's we moved into a 1970's house that hadn't been decorated for over 20 years - we talking very scary 1970's wall paper (you know - with different brown sunflowers on each wall, patterned carpets, brown ceiling in our bedroom FFS - who thought that was a good idea?) no central heating, manky carpets, rotten wooden doors & windows. Our 3 year old DS demonstrated how rotten the bottom panel on the kitchen door was within minutes of us moving in by putting a toy dinosaur through it!

We pulled up all the manky carpets, replaced the ones in the living room & children's rooms & lived without carpets in the other rooms. After work, tea, bath (in the avocado bathroom suite with pink wallpaper 😱), story etc, we would get the children to bed & then start stripping wallpaper until the early hours. I wonder how we did it now! I also wonder how we found the time & energy to create another child LOL!

You get the important rooms decorated - you need somewhere comfortable to relax &, if you have children, get their rooms done so that they can settle in. Then you pack & leave decorating the rest of the house for after you've moved.
