Real simple - snooped on DH phone and found a 'Wifey' saved in his contacts - he called this number unanswered a month ago but no history I can see. I called it and rang out then phoned right back. Like an idiot I hung up. Now I'm thinking I should call and find out who the Hell this is....
I'm feeling very sick and scared and just want to bury my head in the sand because I can't believe this...
I have the number. Do I call and find out or ask him first. I'm shaking.

I would call the number OP

TwattyMcFuckFace · 30/05/2025 22:32

Of course you should ask him first.

He's the only person that owes you an explanation.

Stripeyanddotty · 30/05/2025 22:39

Just ask him.

ShesTheAlbatross · 30/05/2025 22:42

I agree with just asking him.

If he’s having an affair (which I assume is your concern), saving the OW’s number as “wifey” would be a really bold move.

Happyasharryy · 30/05/2025 22:43

Save the number in your phone and then check if there's a photo on their WhatsApp

PermanentTemporary · 30/05/2025 22:44

Is it your number with a typo or two in it?

Is it someone he wanted to quote to fix the WiFi? If he sometimes jokingly calls you Wifey it might have come up on the autocorrect.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 30/05/2025 22:45

Omg call it first x

Won't a woman having an affair be a bit more cautious than to have their photo set to public?

Perhaps she doesn't know she's having an affair?

Happyasharryy · 30/05/2025 22:47

It's just a WhatsApp photo, I think most people I know have a photo of themselves or their family as their picture

MissAndrey · 30/05/2025 22:47

Save the number and check WhatsApp for a profile pic. Then search it on Google. Don't go straight to asking him, he probably won't give you a straight answer.

If you do ring, don't just ask the name. Start off with something like "Heyy Sarah, how are you?" sounding chirpy and friendly. They'll say you've got the wrong number, then when you ask "oh sorry, who is it?" they'll be less suspicious and more likely to give you their actual name.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 30/05/2025 22:48

To me wifey means woman. I think it’s a Scot’s thing but it’s a sort of inoffensive term. As in some wifey called from school said she’d call back.

If someone said that to me, I'd say "erm no."

Never failed me. Mind I was a teenager last time I did it.

I agree with this. And I also think if you read the word wifey and automatically jump to "my husband is having an affair" then there are other underlying issues that need to be addressed

Needsomeadvice2234 · 30/05/2025 22:55

WhatsApp profile pic is not one I recognise. He's bloody woken up now and I'm steaming angry so don't want to be irrational. His phone died so was thinking about calmly asking who the fuck she is and saying she called....I stupidly deleted her before the phone died but think I could blag it. Its my damn birthday and I can't let this just slide.

Omg call!!! No way I’d sit on this

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 30/05/2025 22:56

It's his work wife.

You probably already know her name from his mentionitis

Floranan · 30/05/2025 22:56

My eldest adult son has a large group of mixed sexed friends, one of who is a lovely lad and is out of all them the level headed organiser in the group. The one that calls the taxi home, the one that arranges nights out etc, he is called wifey by all of them. There’s no offence meant maybe rather sexist but it does kind of suit him

He doesn't work ATM. No mentionitis of anyone so literally have no clue.

Well she’s going through his phone so I’d agree there’s something underlying.

Probably right. Op I’ve found that since my iPhone updated it blocks unknown numbers so I have to keep saving random numbers under nonsense descriptions so I can call them back, normally guessed from voicemail transcript.

Needsomeadvice2234 · 30/05/2025 23:00

Just to say - I have free access to his phone and tablet and he doesn't hide anything from me ever - so this has thrown me.
