Real simple - snooped on DH phone and found a 'Wifey' saved in his contacts - he called this number unanswered a month ago but no history I can see. I called it and rang out then phoned right back. Like an idiot I hung up. Now I'm thinking I should call and find out who the Hell this is....
I'm feeling very sick and scared and just want to bury my head in the sand because I can't believe this...
I have the number. Do I call and find out or ask him first. I'm shaking.

I've been cheated on before so insecurities are all mine I freely admit. I did catch him texting an old GF before we married so guess I can't quite let suspicions go.

So basically, it’s a number in his phone he has called once and the person has not answered, and the only thing which causes any suspicion is that the name is ‘wifey’
A wifey is a woman in Scots. Could be anyone. It’s not yelling affair at me, from what you have said.

Heidi2018 · 30/05/2025 22:52

I agree with this. And I also think if you read the word wifey and automatically jump to "my husband is having an affair" then there are other underlying issues that need to be addressed

I agree, if I saw this in my husband’s phone I’d just think it was some wifie he forgot the name of. But, he’s never cheated on me, so I wouldn’t be snooping anyway.

Needsomethingtoread · 30/05/2025 23:10

My husband follows a guy called Wifey on twitter, he's something to do with finance. He's in his phone as Wifey so it could be him!

PerfectPennyKilledMyHusband · 30/05/2025 23:10

Why were you snooping through his phone in the first place?

CalmDownCats · 30/05/2025 23:10

Could it just be someone whose nickname if Wifey?

OchreRaven · 30/05/2025 23:10

What happened when he woke up?

Do you have the number saved in your phone?

He’s an idiot if he is having any sort of romantic relationship with her whilst saving her as that in his phone. Not very subtle. I would still be annoyed by it even if it’s innocent

nomas · 30/05/2025 23:15

Sounds like he’s done it deliberately because he knows you snoop on his phone.

No one would be stupid enough to save an affair partner as ‘wifey’.

FloweringAnnual · 30/05/2025 23:24

It is a lovely boy with flame-red hair and commitment phobia.

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 30/05/2025 23:30

Is he Scottish?

MeganM3 · 30/05/2025 23:35

Affair partner is probably saved as Bob the Builder or Papa Johns Pizza. Not Wifey. And if having an affair I doubt you’d have free access to his phone, although nothing would surprise me. It’s likely one of his mates? Or a work colleague maybe.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 30/05/2025 23:37

What made you go snooping in the first place? Because by itself this seems awfully minor to be so worked up over.

FloweringAnnual · 30/05/2025 23:37

The number is for a disconnected landline in the attic.

PizzaSophiaLoren · 30/05/2025 23:39

TwattyMcFuckFace · 30/05/2025 22:32

Of course you should ask him first.

He's the only person that owes you an explanation.

Are we living in Disneyland? People who are deceitful do not tell the truth when confronted.

Whereas affair partners do?

FloweringAnnual · 30/05/2025 23:55

Would you be ok with being First Wife? Are you sure you are not Third Concubine?

Oh, I meant call it back before speaking to dp

Ohgodohgod · 30/05/2025 23:58

I think he’s got a colleague called Pete Wifey and he and Pete exchanged numbers some time ago by having DH dial
Pete’s number. I know the feeling though. Ages ago DH went out with a bunch of mates and came home late and drunk. The following day he asked me to read a text for him as he hadn’t put his glasses on yet. When I opened the texts I saw one from the previous evening to an unsaved number that said ‘Love you xxxx’. I asked him about it immediately: ‘darling, what the very fuck is this??’ His friend’s phone had run out of batter so friend had borrowed DH’s phone to text his wife. Just ask him. It’ll be fine.

Ohgodohgod · 31/05/2025 00:01

Ffs battery not batter. Also, happy birthday!

To me wifey means woman. I think it’s a Scot’s thing but it’s a sort of inoffensive term. As in some wifey called from school said she’d call back.

Geordies use it too

It relates to any woman..Doesn't mean intimate

And if he's given her free access to his phone, why would he list a woman as 'wifey' if he was having an affair with her.

Also, if she can access his dead phone, she can grab the charger.

Yes I’m thinking polygamy myself.👰‍♀️👰👰‍♂️

CoastalCalm · 31/05/2025 00:14

How long have you been together ? Could it be the number of his ex as even if you delete contacts on phone they restore unless you go into the cloud and remove - has he just changed his phone as that can trigger it
