Stansted airport parking

Posting for some advice and a little rant!
we’re flying from Stansted beginning of July for three nights. (5th - 8th July)
does anyone have any good suggestions on parking? Everything I’ve found seems really expensive!
it may just be because we got a good deal on our trip that £70+ seems expensive to pay for three nights.
any tips welcomed for a good deal!

I don’t know Stansted Airport but recently paid £75 to park at Manchester Airport for three nights so sounds about right.

Just don’t go for one of those companies that drive your car off to some wasteland on the cheap and it comes back trashed, with 1,000 miles added to it or not at all!

Janek · 30/05/2025 16:04

I usually book airport parking through topcashback, so it feels like a little bonus to get a bit of money a couple of months later, but £75 does sound pretty steep. Compare the price of the train (and you will probably find the price of parking is fine :-().

Janek · 30/05/2025 16:11

Bizarrely, if you go through Purple Parking (also on topcashback) you can get the Stansted Long stay for £60. Presumably the terms and conditions are less favourable than booking directly though.

I use holiday extras, if you sign up they normally send a 15/20% off code almost straight away . Currently it’s about £70 for those days prior to discount , which would be about normal for booking so close to the date needed , book a year in advance and it would be about £40 pre discount . Have a feeling mid stay is about £30 a day now if you don’t pre book .

If you are local the first bus fare is still only a fixed £3 each for the Stansted drop off .

Oblomov25 · 30/05/2025 19:03

Flying from Gatwick, stanstead or Luton I've paid about £60, £75, every time I've ever flown. That's just the price. And that's booking way ahead.

MyCyanReader · 30/05/2025 19:06

It's just expensive unfortunately.

I looked at taking a bus/train and that was even more expensive!

bridgetreilly · 30/05/2025 19:11

That is a normal amount to pay, in my experience.

Bjorkdidit · 30/05/2025 19:17

We always book with Holiday Extras through the Moneysavingexpert link. Don't know about Stansted prices but I think its usually around £70-80 for 4/5 nights at Leeds or Manchester, so might be worth looking at to slightly undercut £70 for 3 nights.

Airport parking is notoriously expensive, I go on day trips for work and find even for 8-10 hours its never much under £40 unless you fly from Liverpool which can be a bit less.

You could look on Your Parking Space I'm case there's a driveway or hotel a few mins walk off airport that does it for less.

But for most people taxis are even more expensive and public transport not an option or really inconvenient so you've no choice but to pay.

RunningNananananananananana · 30/05/2025 19:21

Have you looked at JetParks (Holiday Extras) we just paid similar for a full weeks parking.

Danikm151 · 30/05/2025 19:27

Would a coach be an option?

flixbus and National Express are doing deals atm and you can usually find discount codes

may2025 · 30/05/2025 22:49

Park at the premier inn and get the shuttle bus ? Think it’s around 12 pounds a day and on the your parking app

TeaAndBrie · 31/05/2025 16:23

Thanks everyone :) sounds like that’s just the price we have to pay. We’ve always parked for longer and paid about the same as for three days so I was thinking there may have been something cheaper

Flew from Stansted this morning.

Used Purple parking to book a hotel which included parking for last night til tomorrow night.

Booking said there was an airport bus.

We ended up paying £20 for a taxi (for a 7 minute drive), because the bus doesn't go at that time of the morning, and we'll have to pay it again to get back.

We thought we were using a cheaper hotel but it's ended up being more expensive than it we were staying in a hotel at the airport.

Topseyt123 · 31/05/2025 16:41

How close to it do you live? We are about 6 miles from Stansted.

The local bus from here is £3 each if we are going at a time when that suits (Monday to Saturday hourly with first bus at 7am, I believe). If going at cock's fart in the morning though when there are no buses then we book a taxi which is just under £40.

We use buses when we can as they are so much cheaper than parking the car at Stansted. Sometimes our DD offers to drive us but we don't like to expect that.

We are usually going away for a fortnight at a time, so even if we do have to use taxis both ways, the cost still works out in our favour compared to the extortionate car parking there.

KnewYearKnewMe · 31/05/2025 19:01

Whatever you do, use an official car park, OP.

Stansted has been in the news recently for ‘airport Parkera’ and ‘too good to be true’ meet and greets being scams or vehicles vandalised.

Can you get the Stansted Express?

BambinaCucina · 31/05/2025 23:25

Echoing others, are you on the stansted express route? It's only £2-3 per person, per journey.

Or look at the park on my driveway website.

Finally, a taxi might be worth having a look at.

Baroluleni · 31/05/2025 23:29

We do short break at 3-5 nights and go from Stansted as our closest and most convenient.
We park in red or orange at very front of terminal and pay approx £100. (Going end June)
sadly it is what it is, but conveniently close to terminal.
The train is more expensive if a few of you and they don’t run for needing to be there super early flights.
National express maybe??
just depends on how close and easy you need it to be.
can usually get 10% discount via their website.
but still roughly £100 short stay.

ann24680 · 01/06/2025 17:18

We recently flew from Stansted and paid £97 for parking for 6 days/5 nights. Plenty of spaces in the car park nearest the airport. Orange zone. We only had to walk from the car park directly up the ramp and directly into the terminal. We would not hesitate to book directly with Stansted Airport and would not use any other company. Book fast track security as well. It saves so much time.
