Every year MN users have a hard time with the heat in summer
Here is how to keep your home cooler (note I did not say cool, as that would require air con but this can make it cooler)
- buy a thermostat and place it in your living room or bedroom or wherever you feel is most unbearable
- as soon as you wake up open every single curtain, door and window as wide as they will go
- watch the thermostat. It should go down quite rapidly
- keep watching the thermostat. The second it starts going up, close every window blind and door. You are trying to create a cool cave with no sun or hot air coming in
- the mistake people make here is to open multiple windows to “create a cross-wind”. ERRONEOUS.
- when the outside temp according to your weather app is lower than your inside temp according to your thermostat, open everything again
This method relies on the laws of physics. If you prefer to “open the windows to feel a cross-wind” during the hottest hours of the day, knock yourself out. Literally.
