Relocating to Heworth York

Hi everyone, it's probably been asked a million times before but could any one tell me what it's like into live in Heworth? We are relocating to York due to a career change but specifically settling in Heworth.

What is there for children there? Is it a good community to be part of?

We are moving approximately 50 miles from any sort of support with family etc so need to make sure it's the right move. Our children are 4 and 8 years old

Thanks

It depends where in Heworth you're looking at. Often estate agents put "Heworth" as code for Tang Hall which is student central and not a great place for kids and zero community to speak of. Personally I'd try for Clifton or Fulford if moving to York now as access to better schools and more for the kids to do.

We moved here 4 years ago, it’s a great area, we’ve found it welcoming with a good neighbourhood feel. Depending on which part you’re in, it’s 20 mins walk to the city centre, East parade has a couple of cafes, a post office, coop and greengrocers, and there’s a couple more cafes and a family friendly pub with big beer garden (if that’s your thing)

Has 2 big parks with Glen Gardens and Stray Road, a nature reserve, an active beaver / cub / scout group and the local
library hub and community centre with gym, football pitches up at Tang Hall community centre. Has walkable primary schools that are popular

its a 5 min drive to Monks Cross which has a leisure centre, swimming pool, bowling alley, cinema and shops and on direct bus routes that go out to scarborough etc
