What is this on my daughter's leg? Came up this morning and it's burning and hurting. Only on the one leg! Looks like a shaving rash a bit but she waxes rather than shaves. The skin is hot to the touch and hurts. Any ideas from anyone? No cream has helped so far and she is bothered about it all. How can I help her?

Looks like an allergy.

Doingmybest12 · 26/05/2025 20:13

Have you tried antihistamine. However if hot to the touch and painful I'd get it looked at by a pharmacist if you can find one open.

SnakesOnATerracePart1 · 26/05/2025 20:15

Thanks might try her with Piriton then!

Could be shingles, I'd take her to the pharmacy tomorrow.

Could it be sunburn? I’ve had weird sunburn like that on my legs before

RosesAndHellebores · 26/05/2025 20:40

DS had shingles aged 6 and I had it a couple of years ago. That's how it started. There may be blisters in the morning. Try to get a GP appointment, there's an anti-viral that eases it if started quickly enough. Paracetamol for the pain.

Gundogday · 26/05/2025 20:43

If it’s burning and painful, it definitely needs looking at. It tge inflammation starts tracking up her leg, then a and e straight away, as she’ll need strong antibiotics.,

AllMyExesWearRolexes · 26/05/2025 20:43

Might it be cellulitis? I had that and it was hot to the touch. Needed antibiotics in the end. Keep an eye on the red bits and see if they spread.

Shingles. Gp for antivirals asap

KhakiOrca · 26/05/2025 20:51

My daughter had something like that when she had strep throat.

Ohplesandbanonos · 26/05/2025 21:17

I had a burning rash like that - felt like sunburn even though I'd been nowhere near any sun. Ended up with some fungal cream from the docs which sorted it. Definitely worth popping into a pharmacy and seeing if the pharmacist can help

Weirdaf1 · 26/05/2025 21:19

Could she have brushed against a plant? My dh had something similar from hogweed.

SnakesOnATerracePart1 · 26/05/2025 21:20

Thanks everyone I will get DD to pharmacy tomorrow. Thanks!

@SnakesOnATerracePart1 Did you find the cause?

SnakesOnATerracePart1 · 31/05/2025 18:29

Dd's leg was eczema apparently
