Moving to Sussex from California this summer with a 9 and 11 year old. Would love any local groups for making connections before school starts or if anyone is also new :) Will be based in Hassocks area

Have you been added to the class WhatsApp groups yet op? I’m guessing independent? We have people joining from all over the world regularly, they join the class group and connections go from there generally as small classes

Oh thank you. Actually joining local state schools. How do I join the what’s app groups?

You might find these useful to meet people:
Americans in Sussex | Facebook
Sussex Ladies | Meetup (very friendly group with regular events)

Have you been added to the class WhatsApp group yet? You might need to wait until dc have joined the school and get added by a mum at the school gates (your dc's teachers will be able to point you in the direction of the class rep)

What sort of activities do your dc do at the moment? Some of these might be of interest (and also might have a waiting list so it's not too soon to get in touch)
Hassocks Juniors Football Club
Point4 & Lets Dance! (Hassocks) – Dance classes for all ages (cheerleading + dance)
1st Hassocks Scouts
Hurstpierpoint College - Finn's Swim School

No worries! There's also a flag American Football club in Brighton American Football in Sussex - Brighton & Hove Scorpions AFC if that's of interest. Clubs will be a good way to get dc to meet people and for you to meet fellow parents too before school starts in September :)

The school PTA will likely have an active Facebook page, contact them and they will be delighted to hear from you if you are wanting to get involved in school events and fundraising. The PTA team always know everyone so they are useful to be friendly with.
