If a colleague who you talk to at work but are not particularly close to commented on your engagement post saying ‘’congrats and can’t wait for the invite’’

If you're not inviting them, close it down now and say Haha, just a small wedding but thanks for the good wishes"

Probably assume they were joking if we weren't close. They might not actually expect am invite

dudsville · 25/05/2025 13:55

I would want to use some kind of wording that allowed them to save face, just in case they genuinely do misunderstand the nature of the relationship. @Yamyamabroad 's suggestion seems a good one.

dogcatkitten · 25/05/2025 13:55

I would think they were joking. I would have replied in a similar vein, 'not going to happen' or something such.

Some people have weird expectations.
I had old family friends assume they were getting an invite, I felt I had to invite them. They then invited two extra people along!
Definitely shut it down asap.

SheridansPortSalut · 25/05/2025 13:58

I'd assume it was a joke.
