So much wedding drama on MN

Couldn’t think of another way to phrase this, but why is there so much wedding drama in here? 🤣

If you look at the wedding threads there are so many threads about having drama with weddings. This is light hearted BTW.

Why is there so drama? Surely the B&G can invite who they like? Have who they want to be a bridesmaid or groomsman. Destination wedding- they will understand people won’t be able to attend same as Childfree weddings- they will understand people will choose not to attend. I don’t think this is bridezilla behaviour? Why do people care so much. Surely you can just say no. Doesn’t have to be any falling out? Are people just more entitled these days

But this place would be a ghost town if tantrums over weddings weren't happening

😂😂😂😂 do people really care in real life? Should I mention Childfree weddings? Or expect a scathing?

A lot of those threads aren't genuine. Don't believe me? Just watch for a while. Recognise the same threads popping up, saying the exact same thing just slightly different, with the same language and style of writing, by a person who namechanges just for that thread.

Really? 😂😂😂 that’s sounds soo daft. Will keep a eye out. From the thread I read, MN hates all Childfree weddings?

I have been wondering about this 🤔

Except it’s not as simple as not everyone needs to attend a wedding. There are heavy cultural expectations on certain family members attending a wedding. In my culture they are people like parents, siblings, and grandparents When those expectations are violated by either the hosts or the guests, feelings are hurt and tempers flare.

the drama surrounding third cousins or ex-coworkers is often overdone, but family rifts can have lifelong implications.

So this thread, it won’t let me post it but it’s titled “not picked as a bridesmaid out of a 3 way friendship” have your own opinions, but 92% thought she was being reasonable. Comments about the bride being jealous she was more beautiful, to being plus-size (which she wasn’t) to being selfish. Have a look at the comments.

Yeah it’s bots that scan the board for themes and then generate similar content. I don’t mind so much because I’m just scrolling to pass the time, but it explains why it sometimes seems so otherworldly in here with a whole bunch of people arguing about something you’ve never heard of

This makes so much sense - 2 threads on the same day that are almost identical but for that one sticking point that posters were disagreeing on , so slightly told in reverse. It's tediously obvious.

I don't know about yesterday but theres yet another one today over in AIBU (i think - ive blocked it because they've become so boring but you can spot them a mile off they usually start with a namechange and someone who'se never posted before) about a women who'se bought an expensive frock and now has been told she's univited to the wedding on saturday lol

@Twistedpinkfunkmuffins I haven't seen this one but it sounds like a banger of an example of the thing I'm referring to.
Wedding invite it's an invitation not a summons expensive outlay why are they so expensive nowadays, because in my day...uninvited the bride and groom are entitled to invite or uninvite whoever they choose.

And like clockwork, a thread will suddenly appear within hours that has all these scenarios in reverse, like my niece/auntie is kicking off because I uninvited her to my wedding and she paid for a refundable hotel /flight . Like that.

stopthedream · 23/05/2025 01:16

Honestly, I thought the same thing until I started planning mine!
