Getting referred back to the same service after being refused treatment

I have mental health concerns with possibly personality disorder.

I have been seeking treatment from 2016 and have moved areas three times. This is now my forever home and I was referred from the NHS trust that I lived in 2016 to the new one. I was assessed by this clinic as not being suitable as "unwilling to change, I don't know I'm the problem, I wouldn't be able to cope if treatment ended, I need help with an abortion (i didn't express concern)". Etc.

So after being under four services, who have passed me along, I'm now at this service again - step 3 they call it.witj clinical psychologists.

Aibu to be annoyed at going back to the same service that said "I'm not suitable"?

I’d be annoyed too. I’m wondering if you can use the feedback to be more amenable to treatment so that they will help you? Or is it a case of they will never be able to help you but there isn’t a service that can do you’ve just been shunted around?

This may not be applicable in your case, but I was fobbed off when I requested a service for my mum, but when a hospital consultant referred her for the same service some months later, miraculously, it happened.

I would view it as a second chance. I hope it works out better this time.

So what she says doesn't make sense. I have raised this with other services when it's ending/they are referring me on and they have all stated that their experience has been completely differently and not in keeping with what this therapist said... After a one hour asssement.

Baring in mind I spend heaps of money and time getting my own therapy (I lived overseas where it's a bit more affordable) and spend a number of years, probably 5.5 years doig therapy and helping myself. So bizarre one therapist said that after an assessment when she didn't ask me anything like "you are the problem".

That would be going via the correct pathway for a medical professional to referr, unless you can self referr?

Second chance when it should have been offered me that at the start?

I tried to raise a complaint at the time but that was also a disaster.

In that I was asking for the process and I kept on being given how staff can raise a complaint on the internal system. Was told only that therapist worked at the service and couldn't speak to anyone else. Asked for a copy of the notes etc.

Ended up just having to step away and not doing anything because frustrated.

Therapist just took an instant dislike.

What do you mean?

Yes it was the same therapist that I'm supposed to have an appointment.

Is the possible personality disorder BPD? I only ask because I have BPD and have experienced the exact same thing, Doctor constantly refers me to service a and service refuses to see me because my symptoms are too severe. Nothing happens and my mental health deteriorates again so I go back and get the same referral and refusal. Same with self referral. It's been a cycle for 5 years now.

Yes. Lots of people are desperate to see psychology. They didn't feel they could work with you previously. They're willing to try now, so perhaps keep an open mind
