To ask you to help plan my move

I was hoping for advice as to how best to plan this, I rent and need to give one month's notice, I'd rather not give that notice until I've secured a new place but then they may require deposit and rent before I can move in - is there a way to time this effectively to pay out the least money to move?

I assume you'll be renting again? If so yes, you'll have a period of a few weeks where you'll have shelled out a double deposit and possibly have slightly overlapping rents to allow you time to move things across.

I don't think there is much you can do other than save up so you have enough to cover the extra deposit and rent. It's just one of those annoying things that happen and are one of the reasons it is recommended to try to have 3 months expenses saved up in case of an emergency. Although obviously I appreciate that this would be extremely difficult for a lot of people especially in the current financial climate.
