How much postpartum hair loss is normal?

I expected some but I’m nearly 8 months postpartum now and I’m still having handful after handful every time I brush, touch or wash my hair.
My lounge floor is a sea of hair everyday I am sweeping so much up.
I Have had naturally thick hair so it doesn’t look bad but it’s definitely noticeably thinner.

Not sure what’s normal but I started using Kérastase Genesis Serum Anti-Chute Fortifiant (I can’t pronounce this!) and it actually has made a difference. I have new hair growing (confirmed by my hairdressers). It’s a great product.

I have very thick hair and my hair loss got better when I stopped breastfeeding at 14 months. But then it came back after some months and finally stopped at about 2 year mark. I could definitely feel the loss and our shower was blocked after every hair wash.

I haven’t heard of this but I will look it up. Thank you

Oh gosh 2 years at this rate and I won’t have anything left. I didn’t bf, I don’t know if that makes a difference but I didn’t have this with my first so it’s a bit of a shock.

I had exactly your experience with my first baby (I also have very thick hair). I was braced for the same with baby two and... nothing. It was odd. A boy and then a girl, if there's any science to this!?

My hair started falling out when I stopped BF both my babes. Literally handfuls of it! Probably worse with my son (DC2) - I had full on bald patches, the shower would be blocked, clumps of hair all over the place. It was really upsetting when it’s happening but it settles down eventually. Probably around 6-8 months after it started for me. Although, I don’t think my hair has ever fully recovered!

Mine was similarly horrendous. I had some blood tests around 6 months pp which showed anaemia and a vitamin D deficiency. I upped my supplements to sort that and the hair loss slowed right down pretty quickly.

I had tons. I honestly thought I was going to be bald. No one prepares you!

I’m experiencing this with a boy but not my girl so maybe
