WWE UK Ticket prices, advice and AIBU

My son and his friends are obsessed with wrestling (as was I as a child so I enjoy watching with him). WWE are touring in UK in August, I said I would get tickets for him and one friend, and me and my dad would take them as an early birthday present. DS is 7 (will be 8). All good.
Fast forward to today, tickets on sale, I queue up on two different sites ready to purchase at 10am. Cheapest tickets (not even GOOD seats) are £284 EACH, before ticket charges.

AIBU that this is insane. Have any parents had the same experience? Do tickets get cheaper closer to the date, should I hold out and not purchase yet or tell my son unfortunately we are not going.

For added information, I feel bad because,

  1. I can afford it, but on principle think it's ridiculous (I don't like wasting money)
  1. I went to Wrestlemania when I was younger and to some Wrestling matches in the UK. They are really wonderful experiences I look back fondly on.
  1. I said I would take him 😔 I've never gone back on anything before and he is a lovely boy.

So AIBU to think pricing is bonkers, any advice on whether pricing calms down nearer the event, or should I just buy the tickets with my eyes closed and cry at what I could have spent the money on.

It's getting crazy expensive

I used to love watching it (only on the TV)

Maybe it's me but seems more polished nowadays

I know they had to change the format and be less controversial as they wanted more sponsorship (money) but it just seems tame and predictable now

Maybe I'm old and boring 👀

As for if it's worth the price, that's up to you to decide

If you can easily afford it and it's a one off

Ticket prices for everything seem insane now.

My brother is going to the FA Cup final tomorrows and he said some ticket were £250/£285 and that didn’t include anything other than the seat!

Gigs can be over £100 now too. Springsteen was about £150 ish I think.

Crazy.

I agree a lot tamer nowadays, I must be old too 😂
WWE is all available on Netflix now, so he watches RAW and Smackdown and Wrestlemania, Summer Slam etc (what used to be pay per view shows). It has the entire back catalogue so he is obsessed with the Undertaker (thank God for eBay because his figures are also ridiculously expensive).

I think the main reason he really wants to go is that it will be John Cena's final tour and he and his friend were devastated when he 'turned bad' at Wrestlemania. And the UK show I'll be the week before his final show in Australia. Bless them they are so into it 😆 it's all I hear about everyday.

I think I will end up buying the tickets, I think I would feel bad if I cancelled. Their already planning their sign.
