Fed up of feeling ill all the time

Since around Christmas, I just feel ‘off’ nearly all of the time.
lack of appetite, nausea, anxious, regular heart palpitations.
now, I’ve just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I’m about a week into taking the levothyroxine, so not expecting to see any improvement just yet.
am I likely just feeling so rubbish due to the thyroid issues? All other bloods came back normal

Give the meds 6 weeks and if your not feeling better go back to Dr's.
Do you have a copy of your blood results ?
When you say normal do you know the numbers ?

How old are you? I know it’s often the go to on here but that’s how I felt when peri kicked in.

I initially asked for blood tests to check for peri(I’m 43) but nothing except the thyroid was flagged as unusual

Yeah this is what I was like and was diagnosed hyperthyroidism. It's gone back to normal now but still feel awful. Now found out I'm vit d deficient and low folate and ferritin is at the bottom of normal. Definitely get bloods done again if after a few weeks there's no change.

I’m booked in for repeat bloods in 5 weeks so will have a better idea then

My entire family have thyroid issues except me but yes it will have you feeling rubbish. My sisters been on the same medication as you and it does take a while to kick in

PashaMinaMio · 14/05/2025 20:34

Don’t worry, it will get better.
A family member has been Hypothyroid since late teens. Shes nearly 50 now and doing fine. Takes her medication every morning and feels fine.

This gives me some hope. I’m so fed up. Snappy with my DC because I just feel like crap. I could cheerfully sleep 20 hours a day and have no interaction with anyone

How are you feeling now? I'm in the same boat as you!

You will improve now you are on the right meds, but I do absolutely sympathise with that horrible feeling of being under par all the time - I am on drugs for my heart which wipe me out and make planning anything impossible.

Hang on in there - you are on the right road.
