Around two weeks ago I developed a throbbing pain under my left cheekbone whenever I bent over. Ibuprofen and paracetamol took it off. It came and went. I few to Italy last Sunday and the pain continued throughout the week alongside the worst hayfever I’ve ever had (although I always suffer in Italy with this but this time was much worse).

I arrived back in the UK Sunday just gone and as the plane started descending I suffered piercing horrendous pains in my eyes, forehead and nose - I honestly thought my entire face was going to explode. It was awful. The pain stopped before the plane landed?!
Monday I felt ok.
Yesterday I felt tired, achey and had a headache.
Today I feel so ill! That cheek pain is back but on the right side this time, my skin is tingling, I’m aching everywhere, pain all around my ribs, chest and back, coughing and I’m so cold I’m sat here wrapped in a blanket with the heating on.

Any ideas?! I don’t feel poorly enough for the Gp but I don’t half feel weird. Could it be covid?!

Sounds like it could be a sinus infection - see GP

rubyslippers · 14/05/2025 12:50

Sounds like sinuses and you do need to speak to a GP
get some antibiotics and you’ll be fine

Definitely sounds like sinusitis. It can be really horrible. Does it feel pressure/blocked when you bend your head down? I also had a foul odour inside my nose.
You can get antibiotics or steroids sprays for it from the GP.

Yeah I feel like my head is completely stuffed with snot and crap, when I bend over it’s like I can feel it all pressuring my entire face and head. I picked up a decongestant spray this morning and it sorted my nose out instantly - but then the chills and cough started

Another vote for sinusitis op!

A family member has it. Horrendously! So you have my sympathy.

You might need antibiotics. Best to go to gp and get it checked.

Also, how is your heart and lung health generally? I only ask because my relative’s sinusitis totally disappeared after they had had heart surgery bc their breathing was so improved. It’s probably nothing to do with that in your case but worth noting for anyone reading this maybe?

It's probably a flu/cold with sinusitis as well. They go hand in hand. The sinusitis the doctor can treat but the other symptoms are better treated at home. It's really horrible isn't it?
Mine started just before Xmas, I've still got a foul odour occasionally and that pressure feeling.
Wishing you well x
