Joined a new work place. New manager has has awful absence levels. It’s so frustrating, tired and exhausted. I’ve taken on their role on a temporary basis but I’m just not happy. Only joined in January and I can’t do it any longer and I’ve already stared looking for jobs. I’ve never left this soon. Normally I’ll do 2/3 years and then go. This time I can’t. I just can’t even see it through. Everything is bringing me down here.

Just go, no point in being unhappy.

I have seen a job. I’m going to bite the bullet and apply. But I just keep getting a voice in my head second guessing that choice

Ignore that voice and apply. You owe them nothing. Go for it

i know I’m going to be the talk of that staff room and the “she’s only just got here” begins. But I don’t want the role on a temp basis. I want it permanently and I want to be at least half happy at work.

Job before this one, I knew I'd leave on day 2, I told my mum I wasn't staying....I had a new job within 5 months and was gone within 7 months with notice etc Life's too short op if your that un happy 😁

I once resigned after 2.5 weeks

If it's not right, it's not right.

Sometimes new jobs don’t work out. It’s better to cut your losses and look elsewhere. Not unreasonable.

Gowlett · 12/05/2025 22:17

Get out of the place!
A better job awaits you.

healthybychristmas · 12/05/2025 22:31

If that job is a temp job they can't be surprised if you leave for a permanent job. Any of them would do the same thing.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 12/05/2025 22:42

You’ve just started and found the job is not the one for you. That’s good. You owe them nothing.
Get yourself out of there and find a job that suits you.
Life is too short to dread going into work every day

HoskinsChoice · 13/05/2025 08:37

Start looking for new jobs but, at the same time, speak to HR or your manager's boss and be honest. They may think you're happy, tell them what's wrong and go with possible solutions to your problems. There's no point staying if you really hate it buy equally, you might as well try to save it as, you're right, having a short-term job on your CV can raise eyebrows for future employers.

netflixfan · 13/05/2025 08:38

From experience, just leave!

Greenartywitch · 13/05/2025 08:44

Apply for new jobs!

After all this one is temporary so it is perfectly normal to leave for something permanent and with a better work environment.

It is perfectly fine to say to prospective employers that you are looking for a permanent role before your temp contract is due to end.

Don't stay in a toxic work environment. It is not going to get any better and you will start losing your confidence...

NEVER prioritise an employer! And who cares what they say, they’ll move on to talking about the next person.
