To tell work about pregnancy?

I’m pregnant in my first trimester and really really struggling with sickness and fatigue. I can barely stay awake through the day, physically aching all over and freezing cold.

I have a baby who just turned 1, this pregnancy was quite a surprise! I wasn’t planning on another maternity leave so soon after the first and feel really guilty about it. I have come back to work in a promotion, in a new team, other people have taken time to train me etc and I feel awful that I’ll be on maternity leave again at the end of the year. However I only took 8 months with my DS and I really regret not having more time with him so would like to take a full year.

When I had my first baby I told my manager quite soon as I was signed off sick for a couple of weeks. I really want to take some time off for this pregnancy but I’m so worried about my next maternity leave and what everyone will think of me.

WWYD? WIBU to tell my line manager?

You can’t help your situation and you’re not choosing to be unwell with pregnancy so they would be unreasonable to be harsh on you. But as a people pleaser I fully sympathise with the guilty feeling! Look after yourself lovely I hope you feel better soon xxx
