Weed smell coming through my walls

We have lived in our house for 7 years, had to leave our other house due to neighbours from hell. Music day and night etc. the house next door has always been rented out but the last neighbours were told they needed to move out because the owner needed it back. This was November time.
Nothing happened till middle of December and lots of drilling and banging. It seemed like the owner had moved in on his own. All was fine no issues till around February time when they were having some work done in the front garden, the smell of weed was horrendous but we presumed it was the workmen. But for the next few days the weed smell was coming in through our walls so obviously coming from in the house and not the workmen. I’ve bought an air purifier got air freshener sprayers dotted all over and after googling what can get rid of the smell, I washed all the adjoining walls in white vinegar. It seemed to work for a while.
I don’t think anyone is even living there, they come in a morning around 9.30 and leave around 3.00. All the while smoking their weed and making our house smell. I believe they are growing it too because our landing is now the worse affected and I think this is coming from the loft and airing cupboard which has pipes leading from the boiler in to the loft. How else could it just be making the landing smell? I can’t have my sons window open because it drifts in when they are opening and closing the door, his bedroom is the box room so gets really hot in there. Obviously with summer coming it’s going to get worse with the heat and nowhere for the smell to go.
I don’t know if I dare go and speak to them, I don’t want to go and knock on the door because I don’t know how many people will be in there. I have been hoping I could see them coming so I could just casually mention it but they park around the other side of the house so I don’t know they are there till I here the door bang and the footsteps going up the stairs.
i’ve bern tempted to contact 101 but they would know it was us. The neighbours the other side have said they can smell it but aren’t that bothered.
I’m worried if I do complain they will again turn in to neighbours from hell like before.

If you truly believe they're doing a grow, then report them to the police.

Of course they won't know it's you.

It could be anyone who smells it.

Sounds like it could be a cannabis grow. May or may not be the owners. I'd contact the Police ASAP tbh. Aside from the smell there is a very real risk fire amd other damage that could affect your property. Will be difficult to report anonymously to be fair because you'll need to give the reasons you suspect it and that will indicate where you live, but you don't actually have to give a name or contact details. If you happen to have a police officer or PCSO walking in the vicinity then I'd point it out, but appreciate that's unlikely.

Do they arrive on foot or by car? Reasonable to inform the police if the latter, and they leave almost at a set time.

We live in a cul de sac so rarely anyone walking past, if they do it’s the other side of the road because that leads to a gitty so I don’t think anyone else would smell it.
They come in a van and always park down the side on the shared drive with the other neighbour.
I just worry that I am being paranoid and they are just smoking it personally and we’ll cause a neighbour dispute again. The last one made me ill.

You can report your suspicions of growing to 101 or you can report to Crimestoppers anonymously. Give them the registration of the van if you can see it. This sounds like they are growing, a grow house is dangerous, it could go on fire or explode so you need to report it asap.

Very similar issue here and I’m so bloody sick of weed. I’m in a ‘nice’ area and I moved from a rougher area to this nice area to give my son a good start. But apparently you can’t escape the weed. One of my neighbours deals it and smoke it every evening and throws the buds near my car (he parks next to mine) so when in the winter I have to sit there and wait for my car to heat up, it makes my car stink of weed.

now a different neighbour, my upstairs neighbour seems to smoke it every weekend. You can hear the noise of people round, which isn’t an issue, but it seems like they throw the remnants of the ashtray down the toilet because my bathroom every Saturday and Sunday morning smells like a cloud of weed (our plumbing is interconnected). I’m so sick of it, people can do what they want when it doesn’t bother others but when it does - I’m sure people will give the excuse ‘it’s JUST weed’. Like no, its a problem.

Lots of drilling and banging - and now they don’t actually seem to live there. Almost certainly a cannabis farm. Report it now.

I feel for you Op and I hope the situation can be resolved soon. I spent time in the UK recently and not a day went by when I didn’t feel sick because of the smell of cannabis even when I’d just nipped out to the shops.

It has all the hallmarks of a cannabis farm. You should definitely contact the police or Crimestoppers.

We had the same . New neighbours and the smell was awful .
They did have a huge grow in the attic and bedrooms.
It was only found when we got in touch with the police and said we suspected it.
They didn't know it was us .

Report a suspected grow, if it is they stink so anyone could have reported it.

Postman, other neighbours or anyone who happens to visit your other neighbours.

Lots of possibilities.

Some are found randomly by thermal imaging cameras on police helicopters, they create a hot spot because of the heat needed to grow well in this country, or even by ridiculously high and unpaid electricity bills, if they haven't bypassed the meter. But with any luck when they are caught they will have other things on their minds than how the police found out.
